I love to make my way around New York for the sole purpose of shopping. I can find pretty much anything in this great city, without even looking very hard. This is probably not very smart, as I have gone broke many times walking the city streets. But at the same time, New York is the kind of place where you can find items in any price range. So although I may have gone broke, it’s only because I didn’t know when to stop!

I’m a bargain shopper at heart, so I always look for the great deals, and New York is definitely the place for a bargain shopper. Some of the vendors don’t even have faith in price tags! They give you a number, and if you’re smart, you’ll talk them down to nearly half the price.

And the other thing I love about shopping in New York is that there is no way possible that you can’t find what you’re seeking. The city has everything! It started raining profusely one day as I was trying to make my way to the show, and right there on the side of the road, a man selling hats actually had a bonnet for sale! So if I can find a bonnet, you can find anything.

Although most women will tell you they love to shop for their stylish purses and sunglasses and other fashion accessories, my favorite thing to shop for in the city is items for the home. Just last month I found a gorgeous modern furniture nyc that had a couch that was on sale for half the original cost! A few days ago, as I was rummaging through one of the shops on Canal St. I even found a beautiful pair of kitchen stools, which I needed anyway. Isn’t it funny how that happens? You convince yourself you “need” something just because you want it so bad. Anyway, the fact remains that there is nothing you can’t find in New York.

That being said, you must be careful not to get too eager and settle for the first thing you see that you like. With so many available options around you, it’s wise to shop around a little bit. Even though I was able to find that bargain sofa, just last week I discovered an even cheaper modern furniture nyc store that probably would match my other furnishings a little better. So I can’t stress enough how important it is to keep looking until you can’t look anymore. Shop smart, or don’t shop in New York!
